Newcomers Youth is a project within RFSL Ungdom, which is aimed at young newcomer LGBTQ people and young LGBTQ people who are going to or have applied for asylum between the ages of 15 and 25. The overreaching aim of this project is to increase the psychological and physical well-being of young newcomers.
We organise a variety of regular activities. Among other things, we offer legal advice, safe meeting places and creative workshops. Our aims are to increase the mental and physical health amongst our young LGBTQI new comers and asylum seekers, work for better rights and political advocacy.
We have the following projects:
– Newcomers Youth 2.0 a three year project financed by Arvsfonden.
– Attention Detention a project for members that are in detention centers financed by Stenbecks Stiftelsen.
– Meeting places in Luleå, Sundsvall and Gothenburg financed by Länstyrelsen Norrbottens län, Länstyrelsen Götalands län and Länstyrelsen Västranorrlands län.
– Meeting place in Stockholm financed by Socialnämnden Stockholms stad.
RFSL Ungdom is a youth association working for the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer people. We were set up in 1999 as a branch of RFSL, but in 2003 we became an independent association. RFSL Ungdom has a wide range of activities, which include everything from social activities to political influence. Our vision is a world full of love and respect, in which all young LGBTQ people are, live and express themselves as they want to. You can become a member of RFSL Ungdom here.
