Joint Call for Newcomers Youth’ group leaders in Stockholm and Gothenburg
The Newcomers Youth (a project working with LGBTIQ youth who are asylum seekers, undocumented, and Newcomers in Sweden) and RFSL Ungdom is looking for 3 group leaders responsible for leading our meeting place.
Who are you?
We are looking for 2 leaders who have knowledge about LGBTIQ and activism, as well as another group leader who is experienced in performance, acting, and/or creative methods. Preferably you should have experience working with youth since our target group are young Newcomers between 15 and 30 years of age. Speaking other languages than Swedish and English is a plus (for example, Arabic, Farsi, etc.)
We are looking for someone who is an attentive listener and can respond to the needs of an individual, as well as a group. We are looking for someone who has awareness and knowledge of norm critique and anti-racism.
The applications from LGBTIQ persons, persons of color, and those with a migrant background are strongly encouraged. A reason for it is that Newcomers Youth is a project realized within an LGBTIQ organization, and our meeting places are queer migrant community-based.
What would be your responsibilities?
Overall responsibility for all three group leaders would be to organize and manage programs and activities for the meeting place, together with the coordinators and participants. The purpose of our meeting places is to create a safe and empowering setting for the participants where we all work together on promoting well-being and strengthening their skills. The meeting places occur both digitally (Zoom) and in person.
One leader in Stockholm would be responsible for managing Peer-to-Peer sessions and activist workshops, while the other one would be responsible for managing creative/performance workshops. The leader in Gothenburg would be responsible for managing a meeting place that has either a form of informal hangouts or more activist/LGBTQ workshops-related meetings.
